Medway Air Ambulance Announces New Medical Director

Medway Air Ambulance announces that Dr. Mark Merlin has assumed the position of Medical Director, where he will be responsible for medical management of all patients, protocol review, online medical control, and training for all medical personnel. In this role he will provide medical necessity reviews and coordinate care for the transportation of patients on Medway’s fleet of fixed wing air ambulances, in conjunction with the Medical Directors of the discharging and receiving medical facilities, insurance companies, and the patient and their family.

Dr. Merlin comes to Medway with more than 20 years’ experience as a healthcare provider and educator. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of Emergency Medicine and is the Emergency Medical Services Fellowship Director at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center/RWJBarnabas Health System in New Jersey. Dr Merlin also serves as the Chief Medical Officer and System Medical Director for MONOC EMS the largest EMS system in New Jersey.

Dr. Merlin is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, and has published over 100 articles, abstracts and chapters for publications in Emergency Medicine, Emergency Service and Disaster Response.
