Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Over the last few weeks many of our valued clients and partners have inquired about Medway Air Ambulance and Critical Care MedFlight’ s capabilities and response to COVID 19. This pandemic has greatly impacted all our lives and will continue for some time. COVID 19 has impacted every aspect of healthcare, the air medical industry is not immune to the impact. As a specialized means of transport, we are unlike your typical ground transportation unit. Many factors must be considered when transporting confirmed or suspected COVID 19 patients. Collectively our team has been monitoring the information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization and the U.S. State Department regarding the Pandemic.

Medway and CCM’s medical teams in conjunction with our leadership team feel that the safest approach to transport would be through use of the AirBoss Isopod or EpiShuttle. These units are self-contained isolation units designed for use in air and ground ambulance units and significantly limit the potential to employee exposures. Currently these units are in extreme demand and unavailable until June. For these reasons we have decided in the interest of the safety of our employees and their families we are not currently accepting COVID 19 patients.

Medway/CCM remains available for all other transports throughout the Americas and the Caribbean, each transport is carefully screened medically prior to acceptance. The screening process is being overseen by our Medical Director Dr Mark Merlin who also serve on the New Jersey Task Force for COVID 19. His experience and guidance have proven invaluable in this difficult time.

All our aircraft and medical equipment are thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated after each patient transport. Our cleaning process meet or exceed the recommendation placed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The clinical, aviation, and operation staff have been undergoing continuous education and training for the crisis the world is facing now. Safety of our staff and is paramount and we want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to protect them as well as the patients we serve. Personal Protective Equipment is a core piece of medical equipment on all flights we conduct.

Medway/CCM has implemented social distancing when possible with our office staff, many working from home. All nonessential travel has been cancelled. Mission critical staff are on site as usual but are screened for possible exposure to ensure that our work environment is not compromised.

Our first and foremost mission is always safety in the air and on the ground.

Currently we are in full operation for the Americas and the Caribbean for your transport needs. We stand ready to respond to the needs of your patients.
